Dr. Sophi Wakefield
Dr. Wakefield grew up in Central Illinois in the middle of corn fields. For as long as she can remember she had all types of different animals; including cats, dogs, and even a duck. At the age of 5, she started riding horses and continued riding them competitively until she went to veterinary school in 2010. Unlike many veterinarians, she did not know that’s what she wanted to be when she was a child. It struck her as her dream job the summer before heading off to college when she was outside with one of her horses.
She attended Millikin University for her undergraduate studies in both Biology and Spanish. For veterinary school, she went to California at Western University of Health Sciences and truly enjoyed her 4 years of sun and beautiful weather, but was very happy to return to the Midwest.
She shares her home with her husband and pets, Roxi (Cavalier King Charles/Cocker Spaniel Mix) and Percy (Domestic Shorthair). In her free time she enjoys traveling to any and every location. Some of her favorite trips have been to Argentina, London, and Costa Rica.
