Expert Pet Training at Wheaton Animal Hospital

Beginner Class

Fun and educational, this course provides essential puppy care and training skills with an emphasis on socialization, play skill development, confidence building and house manners. Topics covered include house training, jumping up, mouthing and basic obedience. Dogs will be learning the basics of leash walking along with commands such as sit, stay, down and come when called to shape a well-rounded dog who behaves on the leash and knows how to act in a variety of new situations.

*Must be 12 weeks or older to attend and up to date on vaccinations.

Intermediate Class

Building upon the skills learned in Beginner, Intermediate works to polish those skills with added distractions like toys, other dogs in class and treats to keep your dog sharp and focused on commands such as stay and come when called. The technical heel is taught in this class both on and off leash, as well as other advanced training techniques.

*Must have completed Beginner Course and up to date on vaccinations.

Off Leash Training (Advanced)

On leash training, while valuable for on leash behaviors can’t prepare either of you for the challenges of the off leash experience in environments like the dog beach or dog park. Using positive reinforcement methods in a low distraction setting, this course gradually teaches your dog to be reliable working off leash. Course focuses include: come when called, off leash heel, out of sight stay, starting of retrieval work.

*Must have completed both Beginner and Intermediate courses.
